Last week, the price of SP95 rose again, from 1.85 to 1.94 euros per litre. In addition to the war in Ukraine, this increase is explained by the fact that Americans go on vacation and drive on unleaded.

Fuel prices soar on Tuesday, May 24, at a station in Issy-les-Moulineaux (Hauts-de-Seine): 2.09 euros per liter of SP98, and 1.99 euros per liter of SP95. With inflation, the boost from the government is hardly felt anymore, according to some motorists. To explain the outbreak, you have to go to the United States.

Traditionally, Americans take their car from the end of May, to visit their loved ones. For them too, the bill is salty. “It’s ridiculous. I don’t even know how I’m going to be able to go to work”, says one of them. To satisfy those who will leave, the tankers have anticipated and filled the tanks, which causes an increase in the barrel of Brent. It points to 113 dollars, an increase of 10% in one month. However, in a globalized market, each event has immediate repercussions at the pump.
