French gas reserves are full, announces the Energy Regulatory Commission

In preparation for the coming winter, the Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) announced on Wednesday that French gas reserves are full. “As of October 5, suppliers have already built up nearly 130 TWh of gas reserves, a level higher than the average for recent years“, writes the Commission in a press release. The storages are filled to more than 99% and these volumes of gas represent “about two-thirds of winter consumption by SMEs and individuals“.

The CRE specifies that “imports of Norwegian gas, liquefied natural gas as well as exchanges with our European neighbors will supplement these volumes to supply French consumers throughout the winter“. Nevertheless, this filling of the reserves was not easy, in particular because of a “high gas prices“explains the Commission, which would like to point out that tensions are still possible this winter. CRE is therefore calling for a “collective effortto reduce energy consumption.
