François de Roubaix composes for Alain Delon

We are August 14, 1968. In the cinemas comes out a detective film, Farewell friend. The script is by Sébastien Japrisot, the production is by Jean Herman, who we will know later, especially under his pen name, Jean Vautrin. At the head of distribution, Alain Delon and Charles Bronson.

But, if we talk a lot about Alain Delon in this month of August 1968, it is above all because he is shooting a film by Jacques Deray on the Côte d’Azur with the young Jane Birkin, with Maurice Ronay and especially Romy Schneider. The swimming pool overshadows Farewell friend which – it must be admitted – is not really a masterpiece. And if it will happen, fifty years later, in 2018, that we look back with nostalgia on Farewell friendit’s not for the duo-duel between Delon and Bronson, no, it’s for its soundtrack, composed by the immense François de Roubaix.
