France | Ten years in prison required for an ex-soldier advocating “white jihad”

(Paris) A 10-year prison sentence was requested on Friday in France against a former soldier adept of neo-Nazism, tried for “individual terrorist enterprise”, whose public prosecutor feared an imminent act, within the framework ” of mass murder”.

The former cook in the French army, converted into a security guard, assured for three days before the Paris Criminal Court that he had “intoxicated himself with a disgusting ideology”, assuring that he would never have gone to the act and claiming repentance today.

“Yes, there is nothing concrete, you didn’t go out with your gun to shoot people. But we are at the project stage, we intervene upstream, ”argued the prosecutor.

For the public prosecutor, everything was there to qualify the project as “terrorist”, namely: ideology, possession of weapons, and especially the identification of targets.

“He adheres to an ideology which advocates terror, adheres to an ideology which advocates white jihad, this is the key to reading his actions”, hammers the accusation.

Under the pseudonym “Ayatjouz” (“I hate Jews”, I hate Jews), this 38-year-old man had been frequenting ultra-right forums since 2010, multiplying threatening messages and staging himself in the midst of the panoply of neo-Nazi and supremacist symbols.

When they arrested him on May 26, 2020 at his home in Limoges, in the south-west of France, the investigators got their hands on homemade explosives and three firearms.

” Lone wolf “

According to the elements of the investigation, he had carried out research on the Internet concerning places frequented by the Jewish community in Limoges, but also in Strasbourg in the east of the country, as well as in the Paris region and published on forums screenshots of some addresses.

He has been on trial since Wednesday for “individual terrorist enterprise” and “violation of the legislation on weapons in connection with a terrorist enterprise”.

Aurélien C. had already had trouble with the law. In May 2019, he was sentenced to four months in prison for threats against members of the anti-racist association SOS Racisme.

The prosecutor sees this as a sign of persistence in the crescendo trajectory of Aurélien C.

According to him, society must be protected from this man who failed during the trial to justify the substance of his ideology, putting it down to “stupidity”. The defendant, who refused access to psychological care in detention, represents “a real danger” to society.

“Racism is a way of delegating self-hatred to others, and it deserves work on yourself,” he concluded.

If it appeared during the hearings that the ex-soldier had tried to make contact with established ultra-right groups, in particular the American neo-Nazi group Atomwaffen Division, these contacts had not been successful.

He appears alone. Against the intermediary who provided him with illegal weapons without knowing the ideological context – and who was absent from the trial for health reasons – five years of imprisonment were required.

The decision should be made in the evening.
