Involved in the campaigns and political career of her husband Jimmy Carter, she distinguished herself throughout her life for her commitment to democracy, human rights and health issues, with a global network of charitable activities.

“Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will be honored and celebrated in a private funeral Wednesday morning at Maranatha Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia, her home church,” the Carter Center said in a statement.

“The ceremony will be followed by a private burial at her home,” added the foundation on its X account (formerly Twitter).

At 99 years old and treated in palliative care since February, Jimmy Carter, President of the United States between 1977 and 1981, attended the ceremony Tuesday in Atlanta (State of Georgia) in the presence of other former heads of state and Firsts ladies, as well as current White House host Joe Biden.

Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter married in 1946 and formed an inseparable couple in both public and private life.

Rosalynn Carter died on November 19, two days after entering hospice care.
