After the declarations of the Minister of the Sea, Annick Girardin, Thursday, November 18, the fishermen are angry about their treatment in the fishing license file.

This is a new twist in the issue of British fishing licenses, and it does not please French fishermen who do not have one, like Julien Camus, fisherman of scallops. For the fisherman, “the state lowers its arms” following the announcement of Annick Girardin, Minister of the Sea, Thursday, November 18. The minister spoke of a plan to exit the fleet which would compensate those abandoning the fishing license project, on condition that their boat is destroyed.

“I am at the side of the fishermen, I will stay at the side of the fishermen”, declares the Minister of the Sea. But for French fishermen, the proposal is not acceptable, they who feel betrayed by the state. “We are not going to let ourselves die like that, we are not going to accept their check, we want to continue working”, says Pierre Vogel, fisherman of scallops. The entire fish industry is threatened by these announcements, while the majority of fish and shellfish come from the Channel areas.
