In Guadeloupe, the mobilization against the health pass and the vaccination obligation degenerates. Faced with the latest violence, schools remained closed on Friday, November 19, and a crisis unit was activated. 200 police will arrive in the coming days as reinforcements.

A building was set on fire in the heart of Pointe-à-Pitre (Guadeloupe), overnight from Thursday 18 to Friday 19 November. The scenes of riots have multiplied: roadblocks, or looted stores. Recently, the mobilization of anti-vaccine and sanitary pass degenerates, and the armored vehicles of the gendarmerie are deployed in the streets. The government has announced reinforcements, “200 national police personnel”, who “will be present by the end of the weekend”, confirmed the prefect of Guadeloupe, Alexandre Rochatte.

For five days, Guadeloupe has been affected by a general strike. At the Pointe-à-Pitre University Hospital, half of the nursing staff is missing. Some are on strike, others do not have a valid health pass. The operating room provides minimum service. In addition, all the economic activity of the department is idling. The strikers want to negotiate with the state. The face-to-face between demonstrators and the police continued throughout the day of Friday.
