family films top the French box office list for the school holidays

Family comedies filled French theaters with the spring holidays, which were led by the new opuses of “Ghostbusters” and “Kung Fu Panda”.

According to figures compiled Wednesday April 17 by CBO-Box Office, Ghostbusters: The Ice Menacethe new part of the 1980s saga, is a hair ahead of the animated film Kung Fu Panda 4each with just over 300,000 spectators in French cinemas.

The first has just made its debut on screens, while the second is in its third week of operation and exceeds a total of 1.4 million spectators. In third place, the blockbuster film Godzilla x Kong: The New Kingdom has almost 250,000 entries.

Two French films in 4th and 5th place

Behind these Hollywood blockbusters, two French entries: comedy We, the Leroyschronicle of a separation, with Charlotte Gainsbourg and José Garcia (204,000 admissions), followed by one of the stars of young audiences, the dunce Ducobu and his master Latouche, played by Élie Semoun. Ducobu goes green! displays 163,000 entries.

After a month and a half in theaters, the second part of the Dune by Denis Villeneuve, with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya, continues to attract science fiction fans. It has far exceeded the first opus (3 million spectators in 2021) and is now close to 4 million tickets sold.
