Internet scams: false pet adoption announcements circulating on social networks – (France 2)
Before adopting a pet on social networks, watch out for scams! Behind certain advertisements, malicious Internet users sometimes hide.
On social networks, kittens and puppies for adoption abound. But behind well-crafted ads, scams sometimes hide. So how to spot them? On Facebook and Le Bon Coin, certain posts offering to adopt a pet evoke the urgent need to find a new family. Travel, death of a loved one, animal threatened with death… each time, the animal is offered free of charge, even if it is a purebred animal, and very quickly.

The seller comes back to the buyer to ask for a transfer of 100 euros to send the animal to his home. But the kitten or puppy will never reach their destination. “The imposed means of payment often offers no protection or guarantee, the animal’s identification number must also be verified”warned the Society for the Protection of Animals.
