Nearly five hundred people gathered this Friday evening in front of the town hall of Évreux, place de l’hôtel de ville to honor the ALM Évreux Basket Eure team, winner of the Leaders Cup against Nancy. The sound system is spitting out music, obviously with balloons, while children are being made up in the colors of the club, yellow and blue.
It is 5:30 p.m. when the players come down the steps of the town hall to a parade through the streets of the city center aboard a double-decker bus.
On getting off the bus, a guard of honor under the applause for the players.
A basketball backboard was installed on Place de Gaulle and the children were able to exchange a few baskets with the professional players.
After an hour of festivities, comes the time for the essential speeches, by the mayor of Évreux, Guy Lefrand, ALM scarf around his neck, the club’s president for three years Daniel Roussel and coach Neno Ašćerić. The players were awarded the city medal from the hands of the mayor.
This victory in the Leaders Cup against Nancy assures the club a ticket for the play-offs. There are eight home games left in the Pro B league for ALM Évreux Basket Eure. The next is Friday March 4 with the reception of Blois. With the Pro A in sight?
