[EN IMAGES] Montreal: attempted murder of a 21-year-old man

A 21-year-old young man was shot and injured Thursday evening in the Mercier – Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, in Montreal.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted by calls to 911 around 10:35 p.m. about an injured man on Sainte-Catherine Street East, near Pie-IX Boulevard.

When the police arrived on the scene, they located the victim with serious gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

The victim was rushed to a hospital, according to the SPVM, which was still waiting for a return on his health report.

According to initial information, a conflict would have degenerated before ending in shots which hit the victim, while the suspects immediately fled before the arrival of the police.

The scene was protected by a security perimeter, pending the arrival of investigators, assisted by forensic identification technicians who had to move on site.

The canine unit was also called upon to search the area for evidence of the circumstances of this attempted murder.
