During his first five-year term, the head of state posed the image of a Jupiterian president, in reference to Jupiter, the Roman god who governs the Earth and the sky.

At the start of his first five-year term, Emmanuel Macron posed as president Jupiterian. The expression refers to Jupiter, king of the gods of Roman antiquity. The situation changed in 2022, at the start of the second term of the Head of State. Affirming that he had not claimed this reference to Jupiter, the President of the Republic declared with a smile, Thursday, July 14, during the interview he gave on the occasion of the national holiday: “If some had wanted to see me as such [un dieu romain]it’s more Vulcan, that is to say at the forge.”

The mythological image was clearly assumed. In 2017, traveling to New York to sell France’s economic performance, Bruno Le Maire, Minister of the Economy, compared himself to a god of Greek mythology, Hermes, the messenger of the gods. “I know that some still doubt the changes, let’s wait and see. They will see! Emmanuel Macron is Jupiter… I am Hermès, the messenger, the one who must transmit the message. A clear and very simple message: France is back. “ A sentence that had triggered some laughter in the audience.
