To deal with the rise of the fifth wave of Covid-19 and the appearance of the Omicron variant, the government has put in place new restrictions. Live from Matignon (Paris), journalist Guillaume Daret takes stock of the 19/20.
Faced with the fifth wave of Covid-19 and the Omicron variant, the government has decided to close night party establishments for at least four weeks from December 10. For Jean Castex, there were two major issues: raise awareness among the French, and make them more responsible in the face of the danger that is indeed present: “Make the French aware of the worsening of this health situation, do not make them panic, but alert them to reality”, says journalist Guillaume Daret.
Several projections state that a single 10% drop in contamination would allow a marked improvement in the health situation. “This is why apart from the discos, there are no other restrictive measures tonight, but the executive does not hide that if it is not followed up, there could be have much stricter measures in the coming weeks “, explains Guillaume Daret, citing the new restrictions as a final summons from the government.
