“We are in a crisis,” he said at a press briefing. What is happening in Ottawa is not a protest, it is clearly hateful acts. Many citizens have complained on social media of being harassed or even attacked by protesters for wearing a mask due to the pandemic.

Mr. Singh calls on Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to meet with the mayor of Ottawa, Jim Watson, to offer his help and to meet with the mayors of other municipalities struggling with truck convoys, such as Coutts, Alberta.

He believes the federal government must end the “foreign interference” that supports the “freedom convoy.” A portion of the $10.1 million raised by organizers on GoFundMe came from the United States.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton complained on Twitter on Saturday that the crowdfunding platform decided to return their money to donors instead of giving it to protesters. “Patriotic Texans gave to the worthy cause of Canadian truckers using GoFundMe,” he wrote. […] Today I have assembled a team to investigate their potential fraud and deception. Justice will be served for donors in Texas. »

Police dismantled a supply camp for protesters on Sunday evening and will crack down on those carrying petrol. The demonstrators seemed a little calmer on Monday morning, but the concert of horns still resumed at the end of the morning.

More details to come.
