(Vancouver) Telus said Thursday it launched a voluntary departure program for a large group of its employees and said it expects several hundred of them to accept its offer.
The Vancouver-based telecommunications company noted in a statement that the offerings follow significant investments in customer service technology and self-service options for customers.
Spokeswoman Brandi Merker explained that the company offered its offer to a large group of employees in order to be fair and equitable.
She clarified that the company had the right to limit the number of departures requested.
According to Telus’ annual report, the company had 108,500 active employees in 2022.
The document further explains that changes in customer preferences, attributable in part to the pandemic, had led to a major acceleration of Telus’ digital transformation and the establishment of customer self-service options.
