Who is the French burger champion? The answer finally came. A total of five regions competed in the final of the Coupe de France, which was held the week of March 28 in Paris.

At the start, they were 360 competitors. Now there are only five. One last test and one of them will win the prize for the best burger in France. “There, we are not making a simple burger, we are really trying to work on a balance in taste and presentation”explains a participant. Competitors have accepted the challenge of traveling in 25 minutes. The competition takes place under the often admiring eye of the juries. “Honestly, I learned a lot of things both in terms of products and ideas, tastes, textures, it’s a very nice experience”says Laurent Favre-Motpresident of the jury and chef in Dinan (Cotes-d’Armor).

For Christophe Boyer, this is the first competition. A year ago, he was still a real estate agent. A reconversion and a food-truck later, he presents his burger tray based on steamed brioche. The jury then tastes the burgers out of sight. It’s time for the result and it’s Christophe Boyer who wins. The burger bar is a tribute to his Vietnamese wife. At stake, 2,500 euros and a spotlight on his food truck located in Vaucluse.
