Her voice is known worldwide, but it was at the cultural space Les Modillons, a small studio nestled in the heart of Charente that Corsican mezzo-soprano Eléonore Pancrazi chose to record her first solo songs.

And it is in her native language that the lyrical revelation awarded the Victoires de la Musique Classique 2019 interprets this first opus. “These are popular Corsican melodies which were arranged by Maurice Ravel when he was barely 20 years old, it is a score which has never been printed, which I went to look for at the Corsican museum in Corte”, she explains.

Perched barefoot on a wooden platform, Eléonore Pancrazi takes up all the space. In this old barn in Vindelle transformed into an artistic venue, all the music takes on its full scope. Over five days, sound engineers and musicians recorded 27 pieces. “It’s a fabulous place both in terms of its size and the artistic team, there were sometimes 14 of us on set, we are absolutely delighted.” rejoices Samuel Hengebaert, artistic director of the Oktav Records label.

Behind the consoles, the duo of sound engineers Alexandra Evrard and Alban Moraud note every detail. “To make a beautiful record, you need good artists, beautiful acoustics and a welcome and here we have all that”, assures Alban Moraud.

The release of Eléonore Pancrazi’s record is scheduled for November 2024 on the Oktav Records label.
