It’s historic! At the end of an already exceptional season, Caroline Garcia won the best victory of her career by winning the final of the WTA Masters in Fort Worth, against Aryna Sabalenka, in 1h41 of play. (7-6 [7-4]6-4).

At the end of a year 2022 marked by four titles (including the WTA Masters and a WTA 1000) and a semi-final at the US Open, the 29-year-old Lyonnaise became the second Frenchwoman to win the Women’s Masters, 17 years after Amélie Mauresmo’s coronation against Mary Pierce in 2005. She was able to count on her two great strengths who have made her one of the best players in the world in recent months: her service (11 aces and 62% of first serves) and an offensive game in all circumstances.

Much more solid from start to finish, and decisive in hot moments, Caroline Garcia left nothing, or almost nothing, to the Belarusian. Quite enough to impose herself once and for all among the queens of the circuit, the Frenchwoman ending the year in fourth place in the world.
