The local leader of the National Rally in Mayotte, Saidali Boina Hamissi, was removed from Jordan Bardella’s list for the European elections, after several controversial comments during the campaign, franceinfo learned on Wednesday April 24 from Marine Le Pen’s party. The newspaper Libération had revealed publications “racist and conspiracy theorists” on his Facebook page. In one of the incriminated posts, he described the Comorian residents of a neighborhood in Mamoudzou as “vermin” and “cockroaches”.
Questioned on Wednesday April 24 on franceinfo, Sébastien Chenu, vice-president of the National Rally, said he “not a fan of these kinds of expressions” which “shock”. But “freedom of expression is limited by the law in our country. If Mr. Hamissi has to express himself or crosses the line of the law, he will have to explain it”did he declare. “When you put people on edge, you shouldn’t be surprised if an expression is a little green”added the deputy from the North, referring to the situation in Mayotte and the presence of Comorian migrants on the island.
Comments on “the submission of women”
Saidali Boina Hamissi also wrote on Facebook that “A woman’s submission comes naturally when she feels loved, protected and valued by her husband.” The government spokesperson, Prisca Thevenot, condemned on LCI “extremely serious and dangerous remarks against women”. Furthermore, Saidali Boina Hamissi also described Putin as “visionary” in March 2022.
Sébastien Chenu clarified a little before the withdrawal of the candidate from the RN list on franceinfo on Wednesday that the National Rally would “look carefully at his statements”. So it’s done.
