Obstacles are to be expected in the Saint-Pierre interchange sector for the Canada Day long weekend, Mobility Montreal said on Wednesday.
The ramp leading from Route 138 from the Honoré-Mercier Bridge to Highway 20 towards Montreal-Trudeau Airport will be completely closed from 1 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday.
The ramp leading from Highway 20 westbound to Route 138 toward the bridge will be closed Saturday night until 8 a.m.
Mobility Montreal had first announced the closure, Thursday evening, of the Jacques-Cartier bridge to automobile traffic due to the International des Feux Loto-Québec. However, the pyrotechnic show was canceled due to poor air quality in the city, La Ronde announced on Wednesday.
In doing so, “the obstacles planned for the Jacques-Cartier Bridge will most likely be canceled for the evening of Thursday, June 29,” said Christian Fortin, of Mobility Montreal, in the evening. However, the Ministry of Transport had not had “official confirmation” from the Jacques-Cartier and Champlain Bridge Company (JCCBI).
Foresight
Mobilité Montréal also recommends that motorists plan their trips and regularly check the traffic situation due to the intensive moving period scheduled for this weekend. The agency reminds that heavy vehicles are prohibited on the Papineau-Leblanc bridge linking Montreal to Laval.
In the borough of Ville-Marie, there will only be one lane running in each direction on avenue Papineau, at rue Sainte-Catherine, on Sunday during the day.
One of the three lanes on rue Sherbrooke westbound will be closed between rue Parthenais and rue de Bordeaux, in Le Plateau-Mont-Royal, Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
