Visitors to the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts were preemptively evacuated due to a bomb call on Sunday morning.
Museum employees took the decision to urgently remove all visitors following threatening comments received by telephone.
The City of Montreal Police Department then took charge of the case and mobilized numerous officers to examine the scene closely.
No threat was found on the scene by the police who are still on site at the corner of Sherbrooke and Crescent streets.
Many visitors were present on site in the morning as the museum held its monthly free day on the first Sunday of the month.
In an interview with LCN, the municipal councilor for the City of Montreal, Abdelhaq Sari, said he was concerned about this situation.
“It’s even more so when we see that these kinds of threats are made in public places in particular,” he said. I hope that we will have more news and that it will be more reassuring for the population.
