Patrick Watson, Canadian singer-songwriter, spent a lot of time reading for this seventh opus in order to improve the lyrics, he takes us into his little thoughts that crossed him.
The presence of a greater electronic dimension and the addition of modular synths encompasses us in the warmth and emotion of the artist while keeping an acoustic sound.
Several artists have collaborated with Patrick Watson on this new album. Andrew of the Barr Borthers is on drums, “Height of the Feeling” is co-written with Ariel Engle of La Force, Mishka Stein provided chords, and Elisabeth Perrault created the visual portion of this record.
Inspired by one of his idols, Vivian Maier, and the way she captured incredible little moments that ultimately resonate much louder than big events, Patrick Watson devotes two tracks to it on his new album: “Ode to Vivian” and “Little Moments”.
The artist also explores the addiction to our internal negative discourse, when we get lost in melancholy to escape what is beyond us. Through the title “Blue”, Patrick Watson invites us to sit close to a loved one and let go together.
In this new album we can also note musical jewels created by accident, such as the title “La La La La La”. Literally the result of an improvisation between Patrick Watson and Mishka Stein.
As virtual reality sucks us in another direction, Patrick Watson takes us in a direction, in his world where the reality is none other than the one everyone wants to create.
