Attempted murder in Mont-Tremblant | Injured woman still in critical condition

A 51-year-old woman remains in critical condition after being injured by several projectiles from a gun on Sunday in Mont-Tremblant. Her husband Bernard Devoe, an 83-year-old man with no criminal record, has been charged with attempted murder. He is due to appear on Monday and could face other charges.

André Lecompte often met Melbita Devoe, the victim, at the training center of the complex for seniors on rue Saint-Roch where he has been living for a year. He rarely engaged in conversation. Neither the victim nor her husband spoke much French, he said. ” It suprised me. He’s a gentleman in a wheelchair who hardly ever goes out. »

The couple was recently installed at the Sanctuaire du Mont-Tremblant, a rental complex intended for people aged 55 and over. The man socialized little with the other residents and his wife from another country had just settled in Quebec, explains Gilbert, another occupant of the accommodation where the drama took place.

“It is an isolated event. I’m not worried about my safety. But it’s surprising to know that there are firearms in such a quiet place, ”adds the man.

More charges to come

Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, the police were called to a home on rue Saint-Roch, in Mont-Tremblant, where they found a woman injured by a projectile from a firearm.

Bernard Devoe was arrested, then met by investigators from the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) during the day. He eventually appeared by videoconference to face an attempted murder charge.

The man should be back in court on Monday at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse, and other charges could then be filed against him. He has no criminal record in Quebec.
