A judicial investigation, in particular for attempted assassination, was opened on Wednesday after the car-ram attack which occurred in early July at the home of the mayor of L’Haÿ-les-Roses (Val-de-Marne), announced on Sunday July 23, the Créteil prosecutor’s office to AFP. The counts of destruction of the property of others by a means dangerous for people in an organized gang and of participation in a criminal association with a view to the preparation of a crime were also retained. The case will be investigated by two magistrates, added the prosecution.
A burning vehicle was rushed to the pavilion of mayor Vincent Jeanbrun (LR) on the night of July 1 to 2, when urban violence took place throughout France following the death of Nahel, killed by a police officer on June 27 during a road check in Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine). It is in this context that twelve people were arrested on July 12 and placed in police custody. Then these people were all released the next day, without prosecution at this stage.
