Live on the set of France 2, the journalist Arnaud Boutet returns to the tensions aroused by the arrival in Europe of the humanitarian boat Ocean Viking.
France finally decided to welcome the Ocean Viking, Friday, November 11, in the military port of Toulon, in the Var. Is Paris facing a diplomatic crisis? “With Italy, it’s undeniable”, estimated on set the journalist Arnaud Boutet. And to add: “‘Italy 1, France 0’, said a ministerial adviser to me yesterday, but also adding: ‘Well now things are clear. With Mrs. Giorgia Meloni, we do not have the same values’.”
In France too, the decision to host the Ocean Viking sparked strong reactions. “Part of the right, but also the entire far right since yesterday have been crying out with one and the same voice to denounce the arrival of this boat”, recalls the journalist. And to explain the context: “LR is holding its congress in three weeks. There is a little bit of one-upmanship. And then, another element, the government must present in a few months, at the beginning of 2023, a bill on immigration so we can see it, this subject ultrasensitive will ignite the political class and it may already start today.
