The apprentices of the CFA de Bergerac could have broken the world record for the largest galette des rois. Under the control of a bailiff, it was measured: 40 meters and 44 centimeters. The last record stood at 33 meters.
A Bergerac galette should soon make its entry into the Guinness Book of Records. This Thursday, January 20, a bailiff calculated the cake made by the apprentices of the CFA Bergerac, and it measures very exactly 40 meters and 44 centimeters. The previous record, held by bakers from Allier, stands at 33 meters.
4 working days
The operation was carried out for almost 4 days, “non-stop”, by around fifty students from the apprentice training center in Bergerac. Under the leadership of their trainer Jean-Claude Duteil, they made 85 sheets of frangipane galette, from 80 kilos of flour, 50 kilos of butter and 15 kilos of almond cream.
The measure authenticated by the judicial officer should allow the Guinness World Records to designate the CFA apprentice cake as the largest cake ever made.
In the meantime, the shares will be distributed to associations of Bergerac.
