He there won’t be a fifth night at Rock en Seine next Tuesday. Matthew Dukesthe director of the festival, is recovering from the cancellation of Rage Against The Machine and explains that “vsThis disappointment has turned into a bit of energy and a start to ensure that the remaining four days leave a beautiful and indelible mark for festival-goers”.
So certainly, there will be four days of concerts, one more than in 2019. High-sounding and very rock names, taken away by Nick Cave and the English ofarctic Monkeys who come for the third time to the national domain of Saint-Cloud. According to Matthew Dukes, “arctic Monkeys is a group that has already come to the festival but is mentioned almost every year. When we manage to fill the festival-goers’ wishlist, it’s the best way to launch a program”.
With the financial obligation to sell almost all of its tickets, Rock en Seine has been facing the post-Covid storm for three years. Build a solid poster, with a few artists little or not seen elsewhere, like KraftwerkTea Blaze, Tame Impala or yungblud was therefore an obligation
For artists, it’s also back to school. After taking the full force of the Covid crisis, Izïa will conclude its summer back at the festivals, Saturday August 27, by participating in its first Rock en Seine. “It’s very exciting, with this album Citadel I aroused a new interest. I reinvented myself a bit and all the festival programmers came to see us on stage. We had such a solid show, that’s also why it was so frustrating not to go to a festival”.
Everything is in place to make this resurrection a memorable edition. But the recent past, between crisis and cancellations, has shown that you shouldn’t swear to anything. At Rock en Seine, we will wait until Monday morning to do the accounts.
