With inflation, more and more owners are starting to rent out their homes with big gains to boot. Some of them can thus earn 5,000 euros per year. Report in Dieppe (Seine-Maritime).
In this coastal city in Seine-Maritime, Françoise Roussel has been renting this studio in the city center for seven years via the Airbnb platform. She rents it 90 days a year. Average price: 50 euros per night, or 4,000 euros in annual income in addition to his pension. “Regardless of the social bond, I have an additional income in this way. And then it makes this space live a little bit”she explains.
A median income that has doubled
A sum that must be declared to taxes. Last year, the median income of platform users doubled compared to 2021 to reach 5,900 euros. An increase which is explained by the number of offers in decline since the health crisis. Many properties would be returned to the long-term rental market. “You are going to have an offer which is a little smaller with an explosion in demand because there is a real frustration to travel again”, explains Vanguelis Panayotis, director of MKG Consulting. Result: rising prices on the platform.
