Friday, May 6, the wolf is present in many French departments. After being hunted, its reappearance is good news for biodiversity.

The wolf, with its recognizable gait and profile, was seen in Finistère. He would have been attracted by the animals of the forest. Since its return to the Alps in 1992, the wolf is more and more present in France, in Vendée, in Drôme or even in New Aquitaine. The species colonizes new territories in France every year. After being hunted, the wolf had disappeared in the 1930s.

The species is now protected and would number 624 individuals. “It’s rather good news to see that the wolf, in any case an animal, can still cover such a territory. The good news is that in France, there are habitats that are still favorable for the wolf. And if they are favorable for the wolf, they are necessarily favorable for other species”emphasizes Loïc Obled, Deputy Director General of the French Office for Biodiversity. This animal thus seems to regain possession of its environment.
