The Haute-Yamaska Education Union (SEHY), which is affiliated with the Autonomous Education Federation (FAE), recommends to its members to reject the agreement in principle concluded with Quebec at the end of December.
In a memo obtained Tuesday by The duty and other media, the SEHY board of directors deplores that the government of François Legault shows “apparent contempt” towards the teaching profession. “Considering that this agreement in principle does not significantly improve our working conditions, including class composition; considering that this agreement in principle deteriorates working conditions in vocational training; the board of directors recommends rejecting the agreement in principle. »
The SEHY has clarified that it will not provide additional explanations until the general meeting at which its approximately 2,000 members will vote on the agreement in principle. The date of this event will be announced soon.

The SEHY is one of the nine unions affiliated to the FAE. The latter, which represents 66,500 members, ended a 22-day indefinite general strike on December 29 after announcing that it had reached an agreement in principle with the Quebec government.
