A tribute to the victims of the attack on the basilica was paid on Friday 29 in Nice (Alpes-Maritimes). The inhabitants of the basilica district have still not forgotten the horror of the events.

In the streets of Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), the death knell is ringing. It is 8:45 am precisely, the time at which the attack on the basilica took place, on October 29, 2020. An echo to salute the memory of the three parishioners killed in this basilica. “It’s sad but it’s still very moving, because it could have happened to anyone”, testifies a resident of the district. On October 29, 2020, three people were attacked in this basilica by a terrorist equipped with a knife.

Two victims have their throats cut and a third victim succumbs to his injuries after taking refuge in a nearby restaurant. One year after the events, the manager still remains marked: “I had never seen the police shoot someone, it’s still traumatic, it’s stuck in my head.” A commemorative plaque will be unveiled in memory of the three victims during a tribute that will take place in the afternoon of Friday, October 29.
