If you plan to take the road, leave as soon as possible and arm yourself with patience. Bison smart has classified the whole of France in black in the direction of returns for Sunday May 29, the last day of the Ascension weekend. In general, returns to major cities will generate traffic jams and slowdowns on the main axes of the country, specifies the institute in its forecasts.

The main difficulties are expected in the South on the A7, A8, A9, A61 and A75 motorways, in Rhône-Alpes on the A7, in the West and the Center on the A10, A11, A13, A20 and A71 motorways, in Brittany, on the A81, A83, N12 and the N157.

Regarding the return to France via the Mont-Blanc tunnel (N205), traffic will be heavy from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and from 10 p.m. 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. (waiting over one hour) and critical traffic from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (waiting over two hours).

In Ile-de-France, traffic will be extremely difficult on the axes converging on Paris from the end of the morning until 11 p.m. or even midnight, mainly on the A6 and A10 motorways. Passage times at motorway toll gates should be relatively long. Smart Bison therefore recommends return to or cross Ile-de-France and major cities before 12 noon.
