This 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck near Pahala on the island of Hawaii, the largest of this American archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean, noted the USGS. The volcanic area has often been affected by major earthquakes in recent decades.
According to the institute, the depth of the earthquake was estimated at around 37 kilometers. Local media report that its tremors were felt shortly after 10 a.m. local time. Falling objects and frames were reported in several homes, according to the online newspaper Hawaii News Now. The risks of collapse, landslides or submersion linked to this “notable earthquake” are all extremely low.
