A passenger dies after spitting out “several liters of blood” and causes panic on the plane

A Lufthansa airline flight turned into a horror film scene during the night from Thursday to Friday, several European media report.

A passenger on a flight from Thailand to Germany died after expelling a significant amount of blood from his mouth and nose, causing panic on board.

The 63-year-old man, whose identity has not been released by authorities, appeared ill when boarding, several other passengers testified. He was in a cold sweat and breathing quickly, a witness reported to Swiss media Blick.

The sixty-year-old’s wife reportedly explained that her husband was in this state because the couple had to run to catch their plane.

Once on board, the same witness mentions having asked a flight attendant that the passenger in question be examined by a doctor.

After asking all the passengers if there was a doctor on board, a young Pole raised his hand. The latter went to see the 63-year-old man, asked him how he was feeling, took his pulse and concluded that the sixty-year-old was doing well.

Shortly after, the sick passenger began coughing up blood.

“It’s total horror, everyone was screaming,” said another passenger.

The 63-year-old man would have lost “several liters of blood”, even going so far as to expel some on the walls of the plane, claims a witness, before losing consciousness. The crew tried to resuscitate the passenger for almost half an hour, but the captain finally announced that the man had died.

“There was dead silence” on the plane, says a passenger.

Nearly nine hours after taking off from Bangkok, the plane that had turned around due to the death landed in Thailand.

The 63-year-old’s exact cause of death has not been confirmed.
