Modern industry, a theme dear to Fernand Léger

It sits in the middle of the other paintings. The work of Fernand Léger is the star of this auction organized at the Haras de Bois Roussel, in Bursard, by AuctavArt. “It represents terribly well what the Builders were, even if there are no workers. It is completely his post-war work” explains James Fattori, AuctavArt auctioneer. “I like the shapes imposed by modern industry. Since his discovery of the Air Show in 1912, the artist was fascinated by the mechanical element, the plastic possibilities of which he explored. At the beginning of the 1950s, with his Builders series, he became interested in workers with themes that always revolved around mechanics and machines. He even exhibited some of these paintings in the canteen of the Renault factory in Billancourt.
