A new building was evacuated in Toulouse because of cracks, reports Sunday April 21 France Bleu Occitanie. The building, located in the city center of Toulouse at 69 boulevard Carnot, only houses shops and therefore does not require rehousing.
The town hall has issued an order prohibiting access and operation, in view of the risks and the weakening of the premises due to cracks and sagging of floors. On Friday, the businesses located in this building had to cease their activities.
An expert from the municipality has already visited, specifies the town hall, but another report from an expert from the administrative court is now expected in the coming week, to determine whether the places should remain closed or not.
Residents have still not been able to return home
Since the collapse on March 9 of an old building, already evacuated, on rue Saint-Rome, security measures and evacuations of buildings in the city center of Toulouse have increased. The residents of neighboring buildings on rue des Puits-Clos and rue du Puits-Vert, evacuated immediately as a precaution, have still not been able to return home.
At the beginning of April, residents had to leave their homes on rue de l’Industrie and rue Castellane. Other evacuees from the Bayard and Bourrassol districts have since been able to return to their homes. Concerning the collapse that occurred at the beginning of March on rue Saint-Rome, the Occitanie region announced at the beginning of April that it would release up to 300,000 euros to help the most impacted traders.
