A motorist injured in a violent collision against a bus shelter in Montreal

A motorist escaped with her life after a violent collision with a bus shelter that occurred during the night from Thursday to Friday in the Ville Mont-Royal area, on the island of Montreal.

The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) was alerted around 2:30 a.m. by 911 calls for an accident on Jean-Talon Street West, near Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges.

According to initial information, the driver was driving on rue Jean-Talon Ouest when she lost control of her vehicle.

For an unknown reason, the vehicle then violently hit a bus shelter before ending its trajectory against a pole, according to SPVM spokesperson Véronique Dubuc.

The victim was transported in a conscious state to a hospital to be treated for injuries that were not life-threatening, it was specified.

We do not yet know the cause of this collision, but SPVM police officers were in the process of recovering evidence to determine whether charges would be laid.
