Two Gildan Lawsuits Against Investor Browning West Dismissed

Investor Browning West says two lawsuits filed against him by Gildan Sportswear’s board of directors have been dismissed.

The activist investor is among several major Gildan shareholders campaigning for the reinstatement of the clothing maker’s former CEO.

In a statement Thursday, Browning West said both lawsuits were dismissed by the Superior Court and the Administrative Tribunal of Financial Markets of Quebec.

Gildan announced late last year that longtime CEO Glenn Chamandy was being replaced, and several investors, including Browning West, are now waging a battle for his reinstatement.

Browning West nominated eight people, including Mr. Chamandy, to Gildan’s board of directors at the company’s May 28 annual meeting.

Gildan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
