A passenger created a great fright in a TGV Annecy-Paris, Thursday July 13. In the early afternoon, a shot rang out in the train, then at full speed. Nearly 800 passengers were on board. A police officer, who was traveling in civilian clothes with his service weapon, subdued the man, who seemed very disturbed, according to witnesses. “He wanted to pass to get out. He took the emergency hammer to break the window”, says a traveler. The policeman tried to control the passenger who grabbed his weapon.
The passenger in custody
In the struggle, a shot went to the ground, without causing any casualties. The man, in his thirties, was then tied up. He also carried a switchblade knife. He is now in police custody and a judicial investigation has been opened for attempted murder of a person holding public authority. The policeman used the “travel, protect” program. The police are entitled to free travel by train, provided they report and remain armed.
