The photo of the teenager, V-shaped fingers and sleeveless jacket, sits on the small memorial, provided for the occasion. A hundred inhabitants from the Aubiers district, in Bordeaux, met on Sunday January 2 to pay homage to Lionel, died in a shooting at 16, on January 2, 2021. While with his group of friends, they were targeted by automatic weapon fire from a vehicle. The teenager succumbed to his injuries at the foot of his building, Place Ginette-Neveu.
A release of balloons in the neighborhood
Among the relatives present to pay tribute to him, Lionel’s parents, who have since moved from the neighborhood to change the environment. Some of his closest friends also came to celebrate his memory in front of the commemorative plaque, the bouquets of flowers and the candles. A remembrance mass was then organized in Lormont, then the procession went on foot to meditate on Lionel’s grave, in the North cemetery, in Bruges.
The day of tribute continues with a release of balloons in the Aubiers district. A meal is also planned at the neighborhood social center.
