For environmentalist MP Francesca Pasquini, “it’s time to stop rolling out the red carpet for attackers”. The National Assembly unanimously approved, Thursday, May 2, the creation of a commission of inquiry responsible for studying the “abuse and violence” of which minors and adults are victims in the cinema, audiovisual, performing arts, fashion and advertising sectors.
The creation of this commission of inquiry responds to a request made on several occasions by Judith Godrèche. Present in the stands of the Assembly, the actress has become one of the leading figures in the fight against sexual violence against minors since she filed a complaint against the filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon for facts dating back in his adolescence. The proposed resolution initiated by Francesca Pasquini was approved by all 52 voters.
The commission of inquiry must “assess the situation of minors working in the cinema, audiovisual, performing arts, fashion and advertising sectors”but also adults, after the Cultural Affairs Committee extended the field of investigation initially envisaged.
She will have to “identify the mechanisms and failures that allow these possible abuses and violence”, “establish the responsibilities of each actor in this matter”, and “issue recommendations on the responses to be provided”.
