A collision of boats leaves several injured in the Gulf of Morbihan

The accident occurred 400 meters from the coast of Arradon in the Gulf of Morbihan. Near the Logoden Islands, help was called following the collision of three boats around 7 p.m. on Monday August 1. In total there were 10 people on board the boats : 4 were injured, 3 of whom had to be transported to Vannes hospital.

At the time of the accident, two boats were stationary in the water: the boaters were talking together. Suddenly a semi-rigid more than 6 meters hits them. The machine then climbs on the two boats (a semi-rigid and a rigid hull). “He must have arrived too quickly”, according to the National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM).

Numerous rescue resources deployed

Very quickly, 35 firefighters, 13 members of the SNSM from the Gulf of Morbihan and the Crouesty station, gendarmes and doctors came to the aid of boaters.

“A speedboat monitored the area and a zodiac made the connection with the coast”. Doctors arrived from the Dragon 56 helicopter, the SNSM made sure to take them to the scene of the accident. “In 20 years of career, this is the second time that an accident of this type has occurred”is surprised Gilles Lefloc, the president of the Gulf of Morbihan station of the SNSM.

An investigation has been opened by the Vannes prosecutor’s office. The legal procedure is carried out by the coastal surveillance brigade of the maritime gendarmerie of Lorient.
