War between Hamas and Israel: survivors of October 7 tell their story
War between Hamas and Israel: survivors of October 7 tell their story – (franceinfo)
On October 7, Hamas militiamen launched a deadly attack killing more than 1,400 people, including 256 at a festival in southern Israel. The survivors keep this day in hell engraved in their memory.
The video went around the world: young people trying to flee the rave party under fire from Hamas. The France 2 teams were able to meet Yuval Rengini in Haifa (Israel). He is a DJ, is 24 years old and came with his friends. “It’s a shame I’m famous under such circumstances. The truth is that I feel really sad. We lost a lot of friends in this festival”, he gets excited. The festival started at 10 p.m. It was the next day, at 6:30 a.m., that everything changed. “That’s the moment they stopped the music. We didn’t understand why. I didn’t see the terrorists, but we heard them”continues the survivor.
“What happened here is inhumane”
He will eventually manage to escape by getting into a pick-up, before joining a military camp. “I am a man of peace and reason. What happened here is inhumane. When we know that they are capable of putting a baby in an oven, the answer must be this”, explains Yuval Rengini. Yasmine was also at the rave party. She found herself on October 7 playing intermediary between the police and the 50 Hamas fighters who had just kidnapped her. “Hamas leader wanted to speak to a police officer who could speak Arabic”she says. “Two hours after the start of the negotiations, the police finally arrive, and everyone starts shooting”, she continues. Yasmine is finally rescued.
