Great harvest for the French clan at home. Less than a year before the Olympic Games, the judo Blues were full of confidence, without Teddy Riner, at the European Championships in Montpellier, with five gold medals, including that of Romane Dicko, Sunday November 5.

The Frenchwoman triumphed over Israeli Raz Hershko, world number 1, in the final of the over 78 kg category, dominating her on ippon in just 32 seconds. At only 24 years old, she won her fourth European champion title after those of 2018, 2020 and 2022.

She thus joins her compatriots Luka Mkheidze (-60 kg), Shirine Boukli (-48 kg), Amandine Buchard (-52 kg) and Marie-Eve Gahié (-70 kg) in the ranks of gold medalists in these championships. Europe. Walide Khyar (-66 kg), Romain Valadier-Picard (-60 kg), Sarah-Léonie Cysique (-57 kg) and Alpha Oumar Djalo (-81 kg) won, for their part, a bronze medal, allowing the French delegation to achieve a flawless performance in the fights for a medal.

The premature eliminations of Clarisse Agbégnénou (-63 kg) and Audrey Tcheuméo (-78 kg), respectively world champions and vice-champions in Doha in 2023, are the only disappointments of these championships.
