Thursday September 21, on the second day of his state visit to France, King Charles III spoke to parliamentarians gathered at the Luxembourg Palace. He then went to the Notre-Dame de Paris construction site to discover the progress of the renovation work.

A long ovation in a Senate which is full and which rises for the monarch, Thursday September 21. At the podium for his first meeting of the day, Charles III reiterates in French his message of Franco-British friendship, in the face of the climate challenge and the war in Ukraine. “There is no challenge we cannot meet, as we have done so often in the past”, affirmed the British sovereign. Visit to Notre-Dame and the Flower Market

He gave a royal salute to the workers on the Notre-Dame de Paris construction site. Charles III was particularly keen on this visit. Alongside Emmanuel Macron, he had the stages of the reconstruction of the building explained to him. Then an emotional sequence on the Flower Market, in the 4th arrondissement, which today bears his mother’s name. With the florists, the king talks about the one who came for the last time in 2014 and her passion for botany.
