It’s been a grueling year and you don’t feel like cooking for Christmas? Because the Holidays are also made for resting, here are suggestions for caterers, gourmet boxes and other menus specially created for the celebrations, for a delicious Christmas, without lifting a finger… or almost!
The Renoir
At Le Renoir restaurant, in the chic Sofitel Montreal hotel, chef Olivier Perret and his team offer several choices to those who do not want to light their oven. The online store allows you to order the famous pâté en croûte from the chef, or the log from the pastry chef Clément Tilly. For those who fancy a gastronomic outing, the four-course L’Art de Noël menu, offered in the dining room on December 24 and 25, will delight foodies ($ 125 + $ 65 for the pairing).
Extra menu
Launched during the pandemic, Menu Extra is now a real must for the gastronomic offer to take away in the metropolis. Its exceptional Christmas feast is no exception, while we feast on one of its signature dishes, phitivers (deer, with game meat pie stuffing, veggie option also offered) with side dishes of creamy potatoes, winter lettuce, fruit ketchup and the Black Forest log ($ 160 for two).
Oysters & Caviar
With 25 years of experience in the food industry, and a true passion for seafood, François-Xavier Dehédin, and the company Huîtres & Caviar, offers exceptional products. Treat yourself to it all with the company’s luxurious signature duo for the holiday season, 25 Blue Label oysters and 12 Red Label oysters (from Oyster Bay, located in Prince Edward Island), accompanied by caviar from Polish company Antonius, blinis and a mother-of-pearl spoon ($ 169).
At the table by Hanna
Do you know grazing boxes? Generously filled with food such as cheeses, cold meats, nuts, fruits and other sweets, they are growing in popularity and make lovely gifts. In Montreal, one of the pioneers is the company À la table par Hanna. Its Holiday collection offers several possibilities of boxes (brunch, dessert, etc.), to combine with the new products in the pantry section, such as shortbread, honey or tomato jam, our favorite (from Caesar) (from $ 38).
At Muffy’s
In the capital, the Auberge Saint-Antoine restaurant, Chez Muffy, has concocted a four-course menu, available for pick-up only on December 24 or 31. Scallop carpaccio appetizer, pie, guinea fowl ballotine stuffed with foie gras, chocolate cream… Everything to make yourself a real feast during the Holidays ($ 160 for two).
Naughty radishes
Last April, Victoria Savoie and Raphaël Buteau launched Vilain Radis, a home chef service that is sure to delight your guests (and you!). For the entire month of December (and also in January), the duo offers an inspired six-course menu (cutlery, cutlery and glasses included): hot oyster, foie gras tea towel, celeriac glazed with black garlic, beef Wagyu, Pont Blanc torché cheese and double dessert consisting of rum baba and buckwheat and apple and hazelnut butter with sweet clover diplomat cream ($ 110 per person).
Hoogan & Beaufort
The Hoogan & Beaufort Holiday Box offers classics from chef Marc-André Jetté’s table, for a meal that will always be delicious: rye focaccia grilled over a wood fire and its whipped butter; agnolotti with buffalo ricotta and herb cream; Prince Edward Island beef tenderloin stuffed with foie gras and its delicious side dishes; paris-brest and its dulce chocolate ganache as a sweet finish ($ 160 for two).
Roger picnic
On the South Shore, the friendly Roger Picnic unveiled his holiday menu. The famous village tourtière ($ 25), which we promise to be the best in town, will undoubtedly catch your eye, or the gourmet box Le Noël à Roger and its four courses, including filled rolls, a soup nostalgia and calf’s cheek ($ 95 for two). Also available in a veg version ($ 80 for two).
The Bedeau Garden
There is something very beautiful going on in Kamouraska since the village grocery store, Le Jardin du Bedeau, was bought by chef Marie-Fleur St-Pierre and Christian Bégin. Le Jardin du Bedeau offers a delightful Christmas Menu that will thrill your nostalgic strings with a host of small and large dishes to create a memorable New Year’s Eve buffet: whole sandwich bread, paw ragout, cipâte, shrimp cocktail, egg mimosa, desserts, sauces, jams… There is plenty! Orders by phone 72 hours in advance, and delivery in Quebec on December 23.
