Emmanuel Macron will host the sixth national disability conference at the Elysée on Wednesday April 26. In particular, it will be a question of accessibility.

Life in a wheelchair is Franck Maille’s daily life. Affected since his birth by a neuromuscular disease, he is confronted with problems of accessibility on a daily basis. His accommodation, a ground floor, is not really suitable. He has lived in the center of Nanterre (Hauts-de-Seine) for more than 20 years. Each move is complicated and requires great attention. “You must not have your head in the air. You always have to anticipate and it’s tiring”assures Franck Maille.

70 measures presented

On the transport side, the RER displays its accessibility. But once the train arrives, there is a step to climb. This lack of autonomy drives people with disabilities and their advocates to despair. Everyone is waiting for an awareness at the highest level of the state. Wednesday, April 26, the President of the Republic must announce 70 measures in favor of people with disabilities. A part will be devoted to accessibility.
