The prosecution is asking for eight months in prison for the motorist who caused the death of a motorcyclist while trying to protect ducks who ventured on the road.

“What I think we can remember is that Mr. Rondeau’s maneuver was dangerous. [Elle dénote] a departure from what one would expect of a reasonable person. So, it must be treated like that”, pleaded the prosecutor Me Alexandre Dubois, in addition to demanding the withdrawal of Éric Rondeau’s driver’s license for a period of five years.
The lawyer emphasized the “extremely dramatic” consequences for the relatives of the victim that the gesture of the driver of a pick-up truck had on July 22, 2019.
That day, the 47-year-old man collided with Félix-Antoine Gagné, 19, who was riding a motorcycle on Route 345, in Sainte-Élisabeth, in Lanaudière.

The oncoming motorcyclist sprung up at this moment, crashing into the Ford F-150.
For its part, the defense is instead proposing a suspended sentence and a two-year driving ban.
