A first disco-pop excerpt from Fanny Bloom’s upcoming new album

Fanny Bloom will release a first album of original songs in 5 years. The singer-songwriter unveils today the first extract from this album which will be launched next fall.

The diagnosis of a genetic syndrome requiring close medical follow-up, the disappearance of his friend-singer Karim Ouellet, the vagaries of the pandemic, great exhaustion experienced at the end of a long tour and a new little baby: the life of Fanny Bloom has completely changed over the past few years.

It is the emotions experienced through this whirlwind of transitions that the artist wanted to address on his next album which will be released later this year, and whose first extract – written and produced with Étienne Dupuis-Cloutier is launched today.

“All of this changed my life, my outlook on it and came to tint my album, explains the one who will offer her first disc of original pieces since “Liqueur”, published in 2018. It is a mix of business that m has greatly weakened my deep roots and a place where I learn to regain control while being in letting go. »

This first disco-pop extract presents one of the directions taken in this new album. “But it won’t be just that,” assures the one who had great success with the podcast celebrating the 20th anniversary of Daniel Bélanger’s Rêver mieux album and the cover mini-album, “Rêve encore” in 2020.

“My songs come in a cluster of ‘vibe’ (*atmosphere),” she continues. This one had a fun spring vibe. The others go towards other musical directions. »

Less electro, more instruments

Fanny Bloom has done a lot in electro in the past. She promises here an album of ten songs giving pride of place to musicians and their instruments. It is the fruit of a year and a half of work which began, strangely, almost at the same time when she learned of the death of her friend Karim.

The artist who says she is proud of every second of this new album that she put in her hand by taking, in particular, control of the production with her sidekick-lover, Thomas Hébert.

“I took my time,” she says. Music speaks a lot. We are less loaded with text. I went to tap into myself to see what was left and when the beast started to take shape, I took the bull by the horns. »
