A Montreal duo wins gold at the French Grand Prix of figure skating

Montrealers Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps prevailed as a couple at the French Grand Prix of figure skating on Saturday.

At 39, Stellato-Dudek has become the oldest athlete to win a Grand Prix.

Two weeks ago, the duo got silver at Skate America.

Stellato-Dudek and Deschamps collected 185.84 points, beating Frenchmen Camille and Pavel Kovalev (179.85) and Germans Annika Hocke and Robert Kunkel (179.73).

In ice dancing, Canadians Laurence Fournier-Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen won silver (201.93).

Italians Charlene Guinard and Marco Fabbri (207.95) triumphed, while Frenchmen Evgeniia Lopareva and Geoffrey Brissaud completed the podium (187.15).

The next stage of the Grand Prix will be held in Sheffield, England, from November 11 to 13.
